Helen V. Deckard – Bedford
Helen V. Deckard, 81, of Bedford, died at 2:42 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at her residence.
Born February 25, 1932, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Erie Terrell and Knoxie (Hughes) Terrell.
She married Charles Deckard who died in January, 2009.
She attended Bedford High School and had worked as a home health aide. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy where she had been the secretary for many years. She was a prayer warrior.
Surviving are three sons, William (Shantel) Luallen, Springville, Gregory Deckard, Bedford and Charles (Rita) Robinson, Bloomington; two daughters, Regina Deckard and Renee (Steve) Fish, both of Bedford; one brother, Gary (Nancy) Terrell of Bedford; five sisters, Jeri (Ray) Gaines, Harlinger, TX, Sharon (Kenny) Ratliff, Marcia Canada, Connie Murphy, and Rita Henderson, all of Bedford; eight grandchildren, Nicole Luallen, Whitney Luallen, Jacob Robinson, Cara Robinson, Renee Deckard, Traci Deckard, Brittany Deckard and Bethany Smith; four great grandchildren, Keiton Hampton, Caleb Hillenburg, Keylie Hillenburg and Karson Luallen; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Larry Edward Deckard; one sister, Catherine Hopkins; two brothers, Wilbert and Vernie Terrell; and one granddaughter, Amanda Luallen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Sister Becky Ryan and Lewis Rice officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Bedford. Friends may call on Friday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with expenses.

Michael Shaw Burkett – Springville
Michael Shaw Burkett, 65, of Springville, died at 2:12 pm on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born March 8, 1948 in Peru, IN, he was the son of Orlin R. and Imogene (Johnson) Burkett. He was a carpenter.
Survivors include three sons, David, Matthew and Jonathon Burkett; two sisters, Ingrid Fitch and Karen Wright; three nieces, Nici Vestal, Alicia Wright and Sarah Deckard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews, Brent and Aaron Boruff.
No services are planned. Cremation was chosen. Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Jan E. Skeen – Williams
Jan E. Skeen, 57, of Williams, went to be with the Lord at 8:27 pm on Monday, January 6, 2014 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 29, 1956 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Fred and Nellie (Williams) Cornett. She married Harry “Tom” Skeen and he survives. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Williams.
Survivors include her husband, Tom, of Williams; two daughters, Heather Benbow and husband, Dan of Williams, Holly Chaney and husband, Dwight of Oolitic; a son, Brett Skeen and wife, Lisa of Bedford; six grandchildren, Nathaniel, Briannah and Elijah Benbow, Eugene Chaney, Baiden and Calvin Skeen; a sister, Gaye Chapman of Bedford; two brothers, Marc Cornett of Bloomington and Randy Cornett of Williams; an aunt, Sue Whiteman of Bedford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings (in infancy).
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, January 10th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Tom East officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, January 9th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
