John R. Lynch – Mitchell
John R. Lynch, 95, of Mitchell, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014, at his residence.
Born September 16, 1918, in Lawrence County, he was the son of William and Myrtle (Fields) Lynch. He married Lucy Edith Cooper November 29, 1940, and she preceded him in death May 11, 2006. John was a retired farmer and Mitchell Community Schools bus driver for 28 years. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1937 and was a member of the First Christian Church. He had worked at Farm Bureau Co-Op and was a member of the Sheeks Cemetery Association, Lawrence County Farm Bureau, Mitchell Community Schools Holding Corporation, and past director and board member of the Marion Township Rural Fire Department.
Survivors include his sons, Michael L. (Judy) Lynch, Manhattan, Kansas, Phillip R. (Cindy) Lynch, Mitchell; daughters, Patricia (Bob) Freeman, Santa Maria, California, Kathy M. Tolliver, Bedford;13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
His parents; wife; brothers, Kenneth Albert Lynch, George William Lynch, and Joseph David Lynch; and infant sister, Laura Mary Lynch, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, at the First Christian Church with Reverend Kevin Giggy officiating. Burial will be in Sheeks Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 10 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the church.

Clois I. Cathers Michels – Mitchell
Clois I. Cathers Michels, 89, of Williams, passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Sunday February 16, 2014 at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Taswell, Indiana on July 6, 1924.

Kirk D. Ramsey – Bedford
Kirk D. Ramsey, 53, of Bedford, passed away at his residence on Saturday February 15, 2014.
He was born in Bedford on August 17, 1960 to Charles Ramsey and Janis (Sherrill) Patrick.
Kirk is survived by his mother Janis Patrick, of Bedford, one brother Kevin Ramsey, of Mitchell; two sisters Kelly Benton, of Bedford and Karla Ramsey, of Bedford, several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Ramsey and one brother Kim David Ramsey; one sister Kristy D. Ramsey.

Elaine R. Walt – Mitchell
Elaine R. Walt, 73, of Mitchell, passed away on Tuesday February 18, 2014 at 7:45 a.m. at her residence.
She was born in Orange County, Indiana on May 20, 1940 to Bertram L. & Hazel A. (Winkler) Brim. She married William “Bill” Walt, Jr. on June 15, 1958 at Liberty Christian Church in Orleans; he preceded her in death December 15, 2008. Elaine had worked at Dana Corporation in Mitchell, Bedford Arby’s, Dairy Queen in Mitchell, and she was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters Debbie Carter of Mitchell; Diana French and husband Michael of Shoals, one son Darren Walt and wife Joy of Mitchell; grandchildren, Kenneth and Tyler Carter, Kree, Karrie and Chase Walt, Odis King, Steven French, Cortney Moffitt, Nakkisha McBeth, Sarah French; great grandchildren Joseph Collins, Rosemary McBeth, Annabelle Moffitt, Ian French, Kyndall French; one brother Lenny Brim of Indianapolis and one sister Margaret Ann Free of New Albany.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters Barbara Brown, Virginia “Lee” Jones and Sue Bess
Funeral Services will be on Friday February 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home, burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Anah Louise Jenkins Crane – Fayetteville
Anah Louise Jenkins Crane, 74, of Fayetteville, passed away at 11:51 am on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Franciscan St. Francis Heart Center in Indianapolis after an extended illness.
Born August 21, 1939 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Byrl Thornton and Louise Frances (Goodman) Jenkins. She married Harold Lee Crane on May 21, 1960. She was a graduate of Williams High School with the class of 1957. In 1960, Anah earned a 3 year diploma from the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Louisville, KY. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years, with most of that time at Dunn Memorial Hospital, where she worked as an obstetrics nurse and house supervisor. A member of the Fayetteville Baptist Church, Anah was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and was known for her strong faith and generous spirit.
Anah is survived by her children, Holly S. Page and husband, Scott of Greenwood, IN; Gaylynn L. Breighner and husband Andrew of Hanover, PA, and Michael L. Crane and wife, Julia of Fayetteville, IN; her grandchildren, Joshua L. Page, Jessica M. Page, Jenna M. Page, Nathan A. Breighner, Jacob T. Breighner, Zachary M. Crane and Isaac T. Crane; her siblings, David B. Jenkins and wife, Louise of Kensington, GA, Joseph C. Jenkins and wife, Susan of Harvest, AL, Elizabeth A. Hickman and husband, John T. of Bramble, TN, Mark T. Jenkins and wife, Rebekah of Humboldt, TN, Philip N. Jenkins and wife, Erin of Huntsville, AL; a sister-in-law, Teresa Jenkins of Fayetteville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James W. Crane, a grandson, Jonathan S. Page and a brother, Stephen T. Jenkins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, February 22nd Fayetteville Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Walden officiating. Burial will follow at Silverville Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Friday, February 21st at the Day & Carter Mortuary and on Saturday, February 22nd from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at Fayetteville Baptist Church.

Wanda E. Roberts – Bedford
Wanda E. Roberts, 78, of Bedford, went home to be with her loving Savior and Lord at 9:10 am on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born, February 25, 1935 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of John and Lelah (Harvey) Nikirk. She married Joseph H. Roberts on May 8, 1959 and he survives. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church in Owensburg.
Her grandchildren will remember her for making Christmas holidays special. She enjoyed making candy and persimmon pudding and passing them out to many friends and family at Christmas. Her church family will remember her as a mother to all. She was well-known throughout the community for her ever-present smile and friendliness.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph, of Bedford; two sons Robbie Roberts and wife Lisa and Bruce Roberts and wife Kim, all of Springville; four grandchildren Michael Roberts, Amanda Spear and husband Steve, Andrew Roberts and Joshua Roberts; one great granddaughter Olivia Grace Spear; three brothers Marshall Nikirk and wife Betty, of Paducah, KY, Delvin Nikirk and wife Jeannette, of Oolitic and Danny Nikirk
and wife Sharon, of Bedford; five sisters, Lois Andis of Denver, CO, Marjorie Henderson of Bloomington, Dana O’Neal and husband Bill, of Bedford, Warnetta Kirkman and husband Junior, of Oolitic and Bonnie Noblitt and husband, Chuck, of Mitchell; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ada Beatrice Buher and Wilma Henderson and a brother, Melvin Blayne Nikirk.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, February 21st Hill Pentecostal Church on State Road 45 in Owensburg with Rev. Bruce Roberts and Rev. Dallas Lakes officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca. Visitation will be at the Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church in Owensburg from 3 pm to
8 pm on Thursday, February 20th.
