Grace Elizabeth Shaff – Bedford
Grace Elizabeth Shaff, 97, of Bedford died at 6:42 am on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born June 22, 1916 in Munfordsville, KY she was the daughter of Virgil and Belle M. (Cobb) Srygler. She married Robert Shaff, Sr. in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1966. She retired from Hook’s Drugs Store as a pharmacist’s assistant in 1983. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bedford.
Survivors include one son: Robert Shaff, Jr. and his wife Judy of Bedford; two daughters: Betty Cameron and her husband Richard, and Mary Mattox and her husband Bill all of Bedford; one sister in law Lucille Swigler of Bedford; seven grandchildren: Diane Jost and her husband Mark of Bedford, Kathi Thomas and her husband Scott of Bedford, Larry Dale Shaff and his wife Debbie of Centerville, IN , Cindy Goodin and her husband Tim of Bedford, Jim Shaff and his wife Terra of Bedford, Tracy Shaff of Ponchatoula, LA, John Ed Shaff and his wife Melanie of Mitchell;
18 grandchildren, 23 great great grandchildren; and one daughter in law, Janet Shaff of Bedford, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Virgil Shaff, two grandchildren, Greg Cameron and Richard Cameron; six sisters; one brother, and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 14th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 am until the hour of service on Monday.

Betty M. Glassco – Bedford
Betty M. Glassco, 87, of Bedford died at 4:12 am on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.
Born March 19, 1927 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Goldie Super. She married Ralph Glassco on October 21, 1943 and he preceded her in death. She retired from RCA, and was a member of the Silverville Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son: Jerry Glassco and his wife Roxanne of Bedford; one daughter: Jeanie Glassco of Bedford; two grandchildren: T.J. Glassco of Bedford, and Michelle Hardman of Bedford; two great grandsons: Dawson and Gibson Glassco; two sisters: Bonnie Vowell of Bedford and Joan Tincher of Bedford; caregiver: Margie Boling of Bedford, and a granddog Tahza.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son: Jack Glassco, two daughters: Janice May, and Brenda
Glassco, one sister: Phyllis Allen, and three brothers: Tommy Super, Gene Super, and Johnny Super.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Jim Barr officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Silverville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm on Monday, April 14th and from 11 am until the hour of service on Tuesday.

Elizabeth Marie Duncan – Mitchell
Elizabeth Marie Duncan, 87, of Mitchell, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born September 5, 1926, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Henry Doyle and Fern Faye (Fountain) Wray. She married William G. Duncan November 8, 1946, and he preceded her in death November 5, 2002.
She was a homemaker and beautician, and had been employed at the First National Bank in Bedford and Holmes Hardware. Elizabeth graduated from Tunnelton High School in 1944 and Indianapolis Beauty College. She was a member of the First Christian Church and a charter member of Leesville Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving: children, William D. (Dianna) Duncan, Joseph, Oregon, Barbara G. (Randy) Powell, Mitchell, Pamela J. (Jerry) Freeman, Mitchell, Nancy E. Ryan, Williams; son in law, Dr. William E. Burgess, Brownstown; sister, Hettie (Cam) Anderson, Bedford; sisters in law, Sallyann Hall, Bedford, Dottie Duncan, Bedford; grandchildren, David (Melanie) Burgess, Debra (Jeff) Grant, Wes (Bridget) Burgess, Todd (Tammy) Burgess, Nicole (Derek) Winn, Dustin (Rachel) Powell, Jason (Erin) Powell, James (Julie) Freeman, Elizabeth Freeman, Meagan Ryan, Rob Ryan;11 great grandchildren.
Her father; mother, Fern Wray Mikels; husband; daughter, Marie Ann Burgess; and sisters, Dorabelle Dixon and Mildred Crane; and brother, Robert Vernon Wray,preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Michael Collins officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
