Katie D. Butterfield – Bedford
Our little Angel, Katie, 19, became the Lord’s Angel on Saturday after her four year battle with cancer.
Katie always encouraged people to hold their heads high and to strive for their best no matter what the situation.
She was the daughter of Rick and Elizabeth and little sister to her best buddy, Nicholas.
Katie was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church and was active and attending the Campus House, her church at Ball State, in Muncie.
Katie was born in Bedford and was a 2012 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence. She went on to study at Ball State University and Ivy Tech in Bloomington, pursuing a degree in Radiation Therapy, all while taking treatments. This degree was her passion because she wanted to help and encourage people as they did her. Katie was involved in many activities while going to school. She was a Sorority Sister in Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a member of the Tom’s Club, and the National Honor Society.
Katie was an avid Steelers fan holding many rivalries with her buddy Nick, a Colts fan. Along with football, Katie loved the outdoors. Building campfires, fishing, boating, canoeing, hunting, and most of all spending time at the river cabin, her final resting place.
Katie is survived by her parents, Rick and Elizabeth. Her brother, Nick. Mamaw in the red house, Dolores Allen, Papaw and Mamaw in the white house, Jack and Marie Butterfield. Aunts and Uncles, Steve (Wendy) Butterfield, Mike Butterfield, Lori Butterfield, Virginia (Jimmie) Atkins, Barbara (Gary) Mills, and Patty (Todd) Stephens. Cousins, Michele (Chris) Clark, Jennifer (Chris) Thomas, Natalie (Brian) Coleman, Nicole Welling, Brittany Welling, Grant Stephens, Brynne Stephens, Mitchell Butterfield, Macguire Butterfield, Brant Butterfield, Holly Butterfield, Madison Clark, Cameron Clark, and Karsyn Coleman.
Katie is preceded in death by her Papaw in the red house, Donald Allen.
Even though Katie’s life was short on Earth, she enjoyed life to its fullest while encouraging everyone around her. She will be missed by many and was an inspiration to others young and old.
Friends may call from 2-8 P.M. Wednesday at Englewood Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at Port Williams Cemetery.

Sherry L. Edgar – Bedford
Sherry L Edgar, 77, of Bedford, died at 5:40 pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born November 15, 1936 in Oolitic, she was the daughter of Fredrick G. and Ruby E. (Woodward) Pritchett. She retired from Older Americans.
A private graveside service was conducted at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harodsburg, IN.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
