Mary F. Gilstrap – Bedford
Mary F. Gilstrap, 88, of Bedford, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born March 16, 1926 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Ollie and Frances (Foster) Hodges. She married Luther Kenneth Gilstrap of August 30, 1946 and he survives. She was a graduate of Shawswick High School with the class of 1944 and a graduate from Central
Beauty College in Indianapolis. She was a homemaker and beautician.
Survivors include her husband, Luther of Bedford; a son, Steve Gilstrap and wife, Linda of Bedford; a daughter, Diana Edwards and husband, David of Bedford; a grandson, Scott Gilstrap and wife, Amber of Bedford; two granddaughters, Lisa Callicott and husband, Rob of Stafford VA and Dawn Hardesty and husband, Adam of Lexington, SC; great grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley Gilstrap of Bedford, David and Jack Callicott of Stafford,
VA; five brothers, Harold Hodges and wife, Audie of FL, John Hodges and wife, Barbara of Bedford, Gene Hodges and wife, Marjorie of Franklin, Harry Hodges and wife, Sara of Starkville, MS and Tom Hodges and wife, Halina of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mildred Long.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, April 25th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Charlie Scott and Rev. Floyd Brick officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 24th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Family Life Missions, Honduras Orphanage.

Phillip R. Lynch – Mitchell
Phillip R. Lynch, 55, of Mitchell, passed away at 9:13 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born January 20, 1959, in Lawrence County, he was the son of John R. and Lucy Edith (Cooper) Lynch. He married Cindy Jo Ritchison June 25, 1983.
He was a farmer, school bus driver, and had been employed at Elliott Stone Company. Phil was a member of the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District, and president of the Sheeks Cemetery Association. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1977, was a member of the First Christian Church, and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Lynch, Mitchell, son, John Russell (Marissa) Lynch, Mitchell; daughter, Leah Marie Lynch, Mitchell; grandchildren, Aidan Russell Lynch, Grayson David Lynch, and Annison Christine Lynch; brother, Michael L. (Judy) Lynch, Manhattan, Kansas; sisters, Patricia (Bob) Freeman, Santa Maria, California; Kathy M. Tolliver, Bedford.
His parents preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, at Sheeks Cemetery with Reverend Kevin Giggy officiating. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Gordon D. “Pike” Bough – Shoals
Gordon D. “Pike” Bough, 74, of Shoals, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at 6:30 a.m. at his home.
Pike was born on December 10, 1939 in Martin County to the late Claude and Lucy (Jewell) Bough. He married Judith Diane Brassine in Dover HIll on September 18, 1959 and she preceded him in death on June 27, 2000.
He retired from logistics at United States Gypsum in Shoals, and was a faithful member of the Shoals Christian Church.
He is survived by his daugher Misty Hightower, of Trinity Springs; two sons, Robert Bough, of Trinity Springs and Mike and wife Penny Bough, of Dubois; one granddaughter, Hillary Jones; one grandson, Hunter Hightower; one great grandson, Bentlee Witt; his companion, Wanda Cooper, of Shoals; two sisters, Linda Melton, of Yuma, Arizona and Loria Mae Wilson, of Shoals; one brother, Joseph Bough, of Martinsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, Velma Tharp and two brothers, Bernard Bough and Doyle Bough.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals and the funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Trinity Springs Cemetery.

Glenn O. Smith – Bedford
Glenn O. Smith, 86, of Bedford, died at 1:07 pm on Monday, April 21, 2014 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born November 30, 1927 in Needmore, IN, he was the son of Carl and Gladys (May) Smith. He married Mildred Colleen Curren on June 4, 1947 and she survives. He retired after thirty years of service from General Motors in 1991. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during WW II and the Viet Nam War where he achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Colleen of Bedford; a daughter, Patricia Ann Hutton and husband, Gary of Bedford; two sons, Timothy Smith and wife, Nancy of South Carolina and Larry Smith and wife, Jenny of Bedford; six grandsons, Darren Hutton of Bedford, Kevin Hutton and wife, Elizabeth of Carmel, Kyle Smith and wife, Amy of Bedford, Chad Smith and wife, Melissa of Greenwood, Tyler Smith and Travis Smith both of South Carolina; a granddaughter, Jeanna Small and husband, Corey of Indianapolis; thirteen great grandchildren and one brother, Ivan Smith of Harodsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Marilyn Whited and two brothers, Frederick and Frank Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Thursday, April 24th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion and D.A.V. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 23rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary with a rosary service at 7:30 pm.

Carolyn Sue Clouse – Mitchell
Carolyn Sue Clouse, 68, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2914, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.
Born April 29, 1945, in Shoals, she was the daughter of George and Ada (Standfield) Hopper. Carolyn was a graduate of Springs Valley High School.
Survivors include her son, Tony Clouse, Fort Wayne; 2 grandchildren; sister, Mary Fern Barton; brother, James Hopper
Her parents and sister, Sally Boggia, preceded her in death.
Cremation was chosen with burial to be later in Ames Chapel Cemetery.

J. Lee Sargent – Naples, FL
J. Lee Sargent died Friday, the 18th day of April, 2014. He was a resident of Naples, FL, formerly of Bedford, IN.
He was born on December 30, 1931 to Everett and Pearl Sargent. He is survived by his wife Nicol of Naples, FL; daughters Terri Owens and Tracey Burton of Bedford, IN and Kelly Alcock of Zionsville, IN; sons-in-law, Danny Owens, Richard Burton and Chris Alcock; grandchildren Megan, Marcey and Ryan Burton of Bedford and Nick, Will and Ben Alcock of Zionsville; brother Bud Sargent of Bedford, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, his parents and brother Gene. Mr. Sargent graduated from Spring City High School in Pennsylvania in 1950. He served in the U. S. Navy, aboard the USS Salem.
Mr. Sargent was the co-owner of Tri-Angle Construction Co., Inc. and B & LS Contracting, Inc. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Parish of Bedford and St. Ann’s Parish of Naples, FL. He was a member of many social organizations including American Legion Post #33 of Bedford, Elks Lodge #826 of Bedford and the Knights of Columbus Fr. William P. Garrity Council #1166. He was a long time supporter of Indiana University Athletics.
Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2014 at Ferguson Lee Funeral Home in Bedford, from 4 pm – 8 pm. Funeral service will be at 10 am; Saturday, April 26, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford, with Father Rick Eldred and Deacon Dave Rising officiating. Interment will follow the service at Green Hill Cemetery.

Charles E. Saladee – Brownstown
Charles E. Saladee, 82, of Brownstown, died at 8:04 am on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Hoosier Christian Village.
Born March 22, 1932 in Russellville, AL, he was the son of Robert R. and Ora Pauline (Hudson) Saladee. He married Beverly Ann Fagan in April 1959 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2005. He was a graduate of the Bedford High School with the class of 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving from 1952 through 1955. He attended Indiana University and received engineering classes through Rockwell International. He was a member of Technical Staff V at Rockwell Space Division, Downey, CA, working on the thermal protection system for the Space Shuttle. He worked on one of the designs for an emergency escape vehicle for the Space Station, a small version of the Space Station and a weapons deployment system for the B1 Bomber. Various aircraft related designs and retro-fits for other aircraft companies. He retired as an engineer for Rockwell Space Division in 1992. He enjoyed gardening, acrylic painting and wood carving.
Survivors include three children, Lannie Thompson and husband, Matt Hamann of Denver, CO, Robert Joseph Saladee and wife, Antigone of Omaha, NE, Michael James Saladee of Southern California; five grandchildren, Shea Erin Saladee, Robert Jay Saladee, Shannon Kelsey Saladee, Megan Leanne Saladee an Nicholas James Saladee; three great grandchildren, Cameron Andrew Connery, Matisyn Froning and Hunter James Paripon; a sister, Rhea Dawn (Saladee) Nunn and husband David; a nephew, John Nunn; a niece, Linda (Nunn) Morris; several cousins and many good friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 25th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Floyd Fisher of the Kurtz Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens where military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion and D.A.V. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 24th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
