Elwanda Humphreys – Orleans
Elwanda Humphreys, 90, of Orleans, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at White River Lodge in Bedford.
Born October 27, 1923, in Burkley, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Charles and Margaret Elta (Nicholas) Evans. She married Hollie Leland Humphreys July 1, 1939, and he preceded her in death February 22, 1999. Besides her role as homemaker, she had worked at Trav-Ler Radio Corporation. She was a nurse’s aide and employed in hospital food service before becoming a QMA to work in private home health care. She loved her family, especially the babies!
Survivors include her children, Norma Jane Humphreys, Orleans, Glen Wayne (Naomi) Humphreys, Orleans, Hazel Frances (Dennis) Moore, Bedford, Mary Etta (Scott) Mapes, Orleans, Hollie Lee (Lesa) Humphreys, Orleans, Anna Belle Dobay, Orleans; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter
Her parents; husband; and three brothers and four sisters, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 15, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Talabott Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9:00 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Helen Lucille Ragsdale – Shoals
Helen Lucille Ragsdale, 83, of Shoals, passes away on Friday morning, May 9, 2014 at her home in Shoals.
She was born on June 18, 1930 in marion County to Wallace F and Mae (Licht) Wininger. She married James A. Ragsdale on her birhday in 1948 in Bedford and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2013.
She graduated from Shoals High School in 1948. Helen was a dedicated and active member of the West Shoals Church of Christ. Whe worked alongside her husband farming until she retired and she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie Mae and Mike Robbins of Memphis; Donna Joan and Gary Boyd, of Bedford, Robyn Lynn and Barney Hughes, of Frenck Lick; two sons, Darren and Smantha Ragsdale, of French Lick, Jason Todd Ragsdale, of Shoals; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one sister Bonnie Troutman, of Shoals.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one broher Robert E. Wininger and a sister Carolyn Qualkenbush.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. A funeral service will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burila will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in shoals.
Preferred expressions of sympathy may be made to the West Shoals Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
