Clara “Ouida” Phillips – Bedford
Clara” Ouida” Phillips, 91, of Bedford, passed away at 10:27 PM on Monday May 26, 2014 at Johnson Christian Village.
Ouida was born on August 8, 1922 in Alabama to Van Lightsey and Roberta (Waldrop) Lightsey. She married Wayne D. Phillips on December 15, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama. They moved to Indiana where they started their life and family together. They had two daughters Anita “Kay” Roberts and Connie Ann Bolton. Anita “Kay” married Ray Roberts who later married Darlene of Noblesville following Kay’s death. Connie Ann married Gary Dee Bolton of Bedford.
Ouida is survived by her 4 grandchildren; Lisa Dull and husband Greg of Columbus, Kelli Lucas and husband Tom of Mitchell, Troy Roberts and wife Amanda of Mitchell, Casey Mullis and husband Brady of Bedford; 10 great grandchildren; Montana Lucas, Tristan Dull, Logan Dull, Ethan Roberts, Evan Roberts, Ulysses “Uly” Mullis, Jasper Mullis, Hiram Mullis, Beatrix “Bixie” Mullis, and Eamon Mullis, she is also survived by her youngest sister Teresa, “T”.
Ouida was preceded in death by 5 of her siblings, her husband Wayne in 1991 and her daughter Anita “Kay” in 1999, and her parents.
Ouida worked as a retail clerk at Goodman Jester and Grants in Bedford. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Mitchell First Baptist Church, in later years she attended Fayetteville Baptist Church. She was a resident of Johnsons Christian Village, where she was lovingly cared for. Ouida will be missed by her family and friends; she will be remembered for her love and care for her family and her witty personality.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 31, 2014 at Noon at Cresthaven Funeral Home, Friends may call on Saturday May 31, 2014 from 10 a.m. till Noon at Cresthaven Funeral Home, entombment in Cresthaven Memory Gardens
