Wilbur Eugene Briscoe – Mitchell
Wilbur Eugene Briscoe, 91, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born February 1, 1923, in Mitchell, he was the son of Ora Virgil and Hopal Vera (Matthew) Briscoe. Wilbur was employed 43 years and nine months at Carpenter Body Works and 20 years at Chastain Funeral Home. He was a long time member and usher at the Jacob Finger United Methodist Church, and a member of the Mitchell Senior Citizens.
Surviving: brothers, Louis “Doodle” Briscoe, Bedford, Robert (June) Briscoe, Bloomington, Leroy (Shirley) Briscoe, Mitchell, Richard (Charlotte) Briscoe, Mitchell, Basil (Karen) Briscoe, Mitchell; sister, Bonnie Duncan, Bedford; several nieces and nephews
His daughter, Regina Ann Briscoe; and brothers, James Briscoe and Walter “Bus” Briscoe; and sisters, Frances Briscoe, Fern Watson, and Ruby Smith, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 29, in the Memorial Chapel of
Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Eric Kersey officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Dona F. Jenkins – Bedford
Dona F. Jenkins, 75, of Bedford, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her residence.
Born June 24, 1939, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Bertha (McDermed) Dillard. She attended Bedford area schools. She retired in 1998 after working twenty-three years as a nurse’s aide. She was previously employed by Dunn Memorial Hospital and Bedford Medical Center and had worked for Indiana University as a line manager for two years. She was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid crafter and enjoyed reading, antiquing, needlework, quilting, painting projects and cooking. She also enjoyed her flower gardens, the hummingbirds especially and her pets, Sugar, Tab, and Sam. She loved her family and particularly enjoyed her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Shayna Bechner-Ingalls, Carrie Bechner-Kirk both of Bedford and Jona Jenkins of Louisville, KY; a son, Aaron Bechner of Bedford; two brothers, Neal Dillard and wife, Karen, Wayne Dillard and wife, Brenda, all of Paoli; two sisters, Barbara Fullen and husband, Larry of Campbellsburg and Louise McMannis and husband, Jim, of Paoli; a sister-in-law, Charyl (Don) Dillard of Seymour; five grandsons, Josh Bechner of North Carolina, Paul Kirk and James “David” Ingalls both of Bedford, J.D. Bugh and Adam Adnane both of Louisville, KY; one granddaughter, Amber Bechner of Texas; three great grandchildren and various nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Doris Perkins of Paoli and a brother, Donald Dillard of Seymour.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dirus Dustin officiating. Visitation will be from 1 pm until the hour of service on Wednesday, October 1st at Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the White River Humane Society.
