Merle E. Bough

BEDFORD — Merle E. Bough, 85, of Bedford, died Thursday at Westview Nursing and Rehab in Bedford.
Born March 19, 1930, he was the son of Marvin and Elsie (Slinkard) Bough. He married Rita Jo Krantz and she preceded him in death on Dec.1, 1998.
He retired as a die cast cleaner at General Motors. He was a member of U.A.W. Local No. 440 and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He had coached basketball and baseball for the Boys Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Newton and husband Chuck, of English; two grandchildren, Dana Flinn and husband Brad and Jamie Brown and wife Jenny, all of Pinhook; four great-grandchildren, Carrie and Brandon Flinn and Jake and Justin Brown; a brother, Mel Bough of Fort Myers, Fla.; two nieces, Becky Davis and husband Kerry of Bedford and Delynn White and husband Glen of Fort Myers, Fla.; a nephew, Gordon Bough and wife Cindy of Labelle, Fla.; and his best friend, Danny Brown of Leesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rita Jo; a son, Jeff Bough; a brother, Gordon Bough; and a sister, Geraldine Howell.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Clarence Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday at the mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
