Chester Granville Batchelor – Mitchell
Chester Granville Batchelor, 89, passed away at 5:47 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born December 30, 1925, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Perry and Emma (Pipher) Batchelor. He married Maxine (Johnson) Terrell November 5, 1949.
Chester retired from Lehigh Portland Cement with 41 years of service. He was a member of Tulip Street Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Batchelor, Mitchell; children, Patricia (Leon) Bennett, Mitchell Nelson (Charla) Terrell, Mitchell; grandchildren, Lynnette Lacny, Kathy Murphy, Kristie Decker, Heather Niehoff, Holly Davidson; 13 great grandchildren; brother, William H. (Ruth) Mullis, Mitchell; several nieces and nephews
His parents; siblings, Blanche E. Bowden, Ethel Bowden, and Clinton Batchelor; and great granddaughter, Abigail Decker, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Darrin Chastain officiating. Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
