Evelyn L. Fry – Bedford

Evelyn Louise (Pigg) Fry, 80, of Bedford, passed away at 8:29 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born July 15, 1935, In Sullivan County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Orval and Blanche (Critchfield) Pigg.
She married Gerald Fry on Dec. 23, 1955, and he survives. She was a graduate of Dugger Union High School with the Class of 1953. She retired from RCA after 36 years; was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and was past president. She attended Central Church of Christ and was past song leader at Erie United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Gerald, Bedford; one son, Michael and wife Susan; daughters Teresa Yeary and husband Blake; Anita Purdy and husband Tony; and Robbie McGuire whom they raised, all of Bedford; Eight grandchildren, Cara McKee (Jesse), Heather Varno (Josh), Ashley Federer (Andy), Heidi Williams (Shawn), Brandon Yeary, Troy Purdy (Shannon), Brent Purdy and Ryan Purdy; six great grandchildren, Drew and Violet McKee, Aiden Federer, Zander Williams and Eden and Oliver Purdy; sisters Naomi Reeves, Bloomington , Lois Rogers, Sullivan and Phyllis Clark, New Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Margaret Boone and half-brother, Robert Pigg.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford, with Bro. Rick Leach officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bedford. Friends may call on Monday from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kenneth Gail McFarland – Bedford

Kenneth Gail McFarland, 88, of Bedford, died at 3:09 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at his residence.
Born February 13, 1927, in Lawrence Co., IN, he was the son of Oliver and Elsie (Kinder) McFarland. He married Lois Chastain in May, 1945, and she survives. They were married over 70 years. He retired from NWSC, Crane, IN, where he was a truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith; a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WW-2; a member of American Legion, Gillen Post #33, Bedford; VFW #1686, Oolitic; Odd Fellows Lodge, #177, Bedford; Masonic Lodge F&AM #14, Bedford; and AFGE, #1415, Crane, IN; and was an avid CB’er. Kenneth was a great family man.
Survivors include his his wife, Lois, Bedford; one daughter, Denise McFarland, Bedford; one son, Zackary McFarland, Bedford; five grandchildren, Teresa Caswell (companion Rick Sexton), Charles Garland, Jr., Joe Garland and Clayton Garland, all of Bedford; and Kenneth Garland, Michigan City, IN; eleven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Wilbert C.”Jill” McFarland, Williams, IN and Bill McFarland, Bedford; two sisters, Edna Young and Glenda Jarvis, both of Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2016, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedord, with Reno Bates officiating. Burial will be in Williams Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 11 a.m. until the service hour, at the funeral home. Military Rites will be accorded at the grave by members of American Legion, Gillen Post #33, Bedford.
