Alta Slone – Mitchell
Alta Slone, 94, of Mitchell, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born January 31, 1922, in Brinkley, Kentucky, she was the daughter of William Letcher and Miranda (Nickels) Mullins. She married Joe Slone June 12, 1938, and he preceded her in death October 31, 2000. Alta was a homemaker and a member of Woodville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, William E. (Nancy) Slone of Orleans, Joey Slone of Mitchell; daughter-in- law, Betty Slone of Mitchell; grandchildren, Stephen Slone of Ohio, Tammy (Brian) Chapman of Mitchell, Tonya (John) Smith of Paoli, Cindy (Randy) Ewing of Salem, Mindy Hunter of Tipton; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews
Her parents; husband; sons, George Slone and Sheldon Slone; and siblings, George Mullins, Chester Mullins, Delza Mullins, Eliza Young, Eva Engle, and Malvery Amburgy, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, at Woodville Baptist Church with Reverend Glenn Hamer officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 10 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the church.

Debra Jean Cain – Mitchell
Debra Jean Cain, 57, of Mitchell, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born March 21, 1959 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Nelson “Bud” and Betty Lou (Wells) Blackerby. Debra was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War No. 9107 Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Survivors include her mother and step-father, Betty (Marvin) Garrison of Mitchell; sister, Patricia Dawn (Robert) Hutsler of Paoli; brothers, Jessy Ray (Debbie Jo) Blackerby of Mitchell, Richard Paul Blackerby of Mitchell; several nieces and nephews
Her father and son, Gregory Alan Vaught, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, January 19, at Bride of ChristFellowship with Brother Jerry Allen officiating. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the service Thursday at the church. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107 Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Roy Dean Davis – Bedford
Roy Dean Davis, 77, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Core Nursing and Rehabilitation of Bedford.
Born July 6, 1939, he was the son of Albert and Maxine (Holt) Davis. He retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division and was a graduate of Shoals High School.
Survivors include his brother, Ray Davis of Bedford
His parents preceded him in death.
Cremation was chosen with no service. Burial will be at a later date.
