Ruth M. Johnson – Bedford
October 17, 1920 – April 11, 2018
Ruth M. Johnson, 97, a resident of Auguste’s Cottage at Westview Nursing and Rehab. in Bedford, died at 2:55 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
Born October 17, 1920 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Ollie and Dora (Clifford) Beasley. She married Robert G. Johnson on September 10, 1943 and he died during WW II on May 23, 1944. She later married Richard C. Johnson on January 25, 1945 and he died on December 17, 2002. She was employed at K-Mart for twenty-eight years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Williams and a life-time member of the Bedford Boat & Sportsman’s Club and Club 55 bowling league.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith E. Caswell and husband, Bert, and Jean Ellen Jackson, of Bedford; a granddaughter, Terri Cazee of Portland, OR; a grandson, Tim Caswell and wife, Audra, of Edinburgh, IN; four great granddaughters, Gretchen Cazee, Morgan Cazee, Kiersey Denief and husband, Evan, and Darsey Caswell; a great grandson, Mason Caswell; Cindy Tolliver (who was like a granddaughter), and her children, Grant Tolliver, Jacee Davis, and Tripp Stahl; three great great grandchildren, Violette, Breleigh, and Gavin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands; a son, Robert L. Johnson; five
brothers, Glen, Lewis, Gus, Theodore and Morrell; three sisters, Lora Cooper, Clara Ethel Beasley, and Margaret Keithly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Perry East officiating. Burial will follow in Knott Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, April 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary. The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Williams.

Kent Hammond – Bedford
September 11, 1937 – April 11, 2018
Kent Hammond, 80, of Bedford, died at 12:06 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Bedford.
Born September 11, 1937, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Oscar and Ilene (Robinson) Hammond. He married Sandra Anderson in 1956 and she survives. He was a Pyrotechnic Engineer for NSA Crane. He was a volunteer at the Boys Club for many years and attended the Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra, of Bedford; two sons, Greg Hammond and wife, Cheryl, Gary Hammond and wife, Susan, all of Bedford; three grandchildren, Evan Hammond and wife, Adrienne, of Gas City, IN, Eric Hammond and wife, Sarah, of Brownstown, Emily Spoonmore and husband, Justin, of El Puerto De Santa Maria, Spain; seven great grandchildren, Evan, Reece, Brody, Alexis, Treyton, Olivia, and Maddox; a brother, Wayne Hammond, of FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Medlock and Betty Arnold; a brother, Al Hammond.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th at the Free Methodist Church. A private family committal will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 13th and from Noon until the hour of service on Saturday at the Free Methodist Church.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Boys & Girls Club.

Jerry L. England – Brownsburg
March 22, 1947 – April 9, 2018
Jerry L. England, 71, of Brownsburg, died at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at his residence.
Born March 22, 1947, in Bedford, he was the son of Calvin Leon England and Mary Jewell (Roberts) Waldon. He married Patricia J. “Patti” Draus on September 23, 1966 and she survives. Jerry worked in sales for Bedford Office Supply. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War in Combat Infantry. He was a member of Dive Christian Church and a life-time member of the Oolitic VFW Post #1686 and D.A.V.
Survivors include his wife, Patti, of Brownsburg; a daughter, Carrie England, of Speedway; a son, Jeremy England and wife, Jennifer, of Palm Coast, FL; four grandchildren, Avery England, Maxwell England, Amaya Vaughn, Amelia England; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mildred England.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 14th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Dive Cemetery with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, April
13 th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
