William J. Baker – Mitchell
William J. Baker, 92, of Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.
Born September 19, 1925, in Orange County, he was the son of Farrel Everett and Fannie (Gallion) Baker. He married Kathryn C. Hall September 8, 1944, and she preceded him in death September 16, 2013. William retired from General Motors and was a farmer. He was a member of the 39th Street Christian Church. William was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his daughters, Willa Kay Howard of Mitchell, Sheila Sue Baker of Mitchell Cheryl Lynn Baker of Heltonville
His parents; wife; and sisters, Bertie Brown, and Uretta Wade, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Bruce Becker and Mike Hawkins officiating. Burial will be Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Monday at the funeral home.
