Gerald “Jeep” Eagan – Bedford

Gerald “Jeep” Eagan, 77, of Bedford, died at 3:52 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born December 5, 1940 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Woodrow and Lelah (Swartz) Eagan. He married Brenda Brown and she preceded him in death on May 12, 2014. He retired as a sawyer at Evans Stone Quarry. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Jason Eagan, of Bedford; two daughters, Deanna Crane and husband, Richard, of Avoca and Melissa Hamilton and husband, Bert, of Mitchell; eight grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Cummings and husband, Don, and Helen Couch, all of East Oolitic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, George Eagan, and a sister, Phyllis Eagan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 27th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday, August 27 th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Lydia Ann Rittmeyer – Bedford

Lydia Ann Rittmeyer, 93, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Bliss Place, Bedford.
Born December 1, 1924, she was the daughter of Robert B. and Ruby (Wicker) Lee.
She married Paul Rittmeyer on April 7, 1962 and he preceded her in death on February 9, 2009. She was a member of First Methodist Church. Lydia was a retired Dental Assistant. She will always be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.
Surviving are nieces, Dinah Cox and her husband Dave, of Maricopa, AZ, Nancy Peabody and her husband Royce, of Bedford, IN, and Jill Webb and her husband Brian, of Mitchell, IN; nephew, Robert E. Lee, of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law, Janet (Day) Lee; cousin, Tommy Lee; her wonderful family at the Bliss Place; and lifelong friend, Fern Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul H. Rittmeyer; daughter Peggy Ann Jackson; brother, Robert M. Lee; and sister, Jean Powell.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Phil Thorne officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral chapel.

Edna E. Young – Bedford

Edna E. Young, 82, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018.
She was born September 27, 1935 to Oliver and Elsie McFarland in Bedford, Indiana.
Edna was the owner of the Smoke Shack Tobacco Store. Edna loved traveling with her daughter Kathy, doing crossword puzzles, and socializing. She loved being around people.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Jim) Gulley; step-son, Vernon Dean Young; grandson, Doug (DJ) Martin; adopted grandson, Ryan McFarland; one sister, Glenda Jarvis; two brothers, Bill and Jill McFarland; step-grandsons, Eric, Jordan, and Tyler Gulley; step-granddaughter, Emily Compton; great-grandson, Michael Martin; great-granddaughter, Tiffany Martin-Reese; step-great-grandsons, Peyton Gulley, Charlie Compton, and Nate Gilson; step-great-granddaughters, Lucy Compton, Rachel, Abby, Kaylee, and Kelsey Gulley; two great-great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vernon C. Young; four brothers, Jack, Robert, Samual, and Kenny McFarland; one sister, Barbara Newman; and her parents, Elsie and Oliver McFarland.
There will be no viewing and a graveside service will be at Williams Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes.
