Hazel Qualkenbush Moore-Cornett – Shoals

Hazel Qualkenbush Moore-Cornett, 98, of Shoals, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the Loogootee
Healthcare and Rehab in Loogootee.
She was born June 20, 1920 in Martin County to James and Vina (Putnam) Qaulkenbush. She married Earl Moore on June 2, 1978 in French Lick and he preceded in death in 1998.
She attended Orange County Schools, was a member of the Shoals Christian Church where she was Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. She also attended Elon Christian Church in French Lick and Moores Ridge Methodist Church in French Lick. Hazel sang for many years in a ladies quartet.
She worked for Fresignheinst Dry Goods Store and managed a dry-cleaning business in Shoals, was an employee of the Alco Dime Store in French Lick and retired in 1993 from the Midwest Inn in Paoli, which she managed.
She is survived by three daughters, Sara Jane (Jim) Marshall of Shoals, Elizabeth (John) Chattin of Shoals, Charleen Tarr of French Lick; one grandson, Aaron (Crystal) Tarr of Shoals and two granddaughters, Olivia Grace and Peyton Elizabeth Tarr.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, two sisters Helen Payne and Ruth Stout and two brothers James Qualkenbush and Gene Qualkenbush.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals with Rev. Matthew Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m.at the Moores Ridge Methodist Cemetery in Orange County. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Queen-Lee Chapel.

Jimmy Dean “Jim” Ryan – Bedford
April 6, 1934 – November 4, 2018
Jimmy Dean “Jim” Ryan, 84, went home to his heavenly father at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Jim was born April 6, 1934, in Oolitic to William and Delia (Silvers) Ryan. He married Ann Price on February 26, 1955, in Bloomington and she survives. Jim graduated from Oolitic High School and was a self-employed farmer, barber, construction worker, construction manager, agent and full-time husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Everyone that met Jim knew he was a man of honor, kept his word and grew to love him and seek his advice, humor, and company.
During his lifetime, Jim constructed many homes in the Oolitic Manor that are still used to this day. He built and managed, along with his wife, Ann, sons, Kenny, and Matt, the Manor View Apartments with 100 units that are still in operation.
In the early years of the Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department, Jim was a volunteer and would regale family, friends and other volunteer firefighters of his adventures with questionable equipment and responding. His stories always bore the humor and wit that was Jim Ryan.
Jim was a member of the Patriot Lodge #750 F&AM in Oolitic and Kiwanis. Jim loved life and his kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren and they lovingly referred to him as “Poppy, Papaw, and Grandpa”.
Jim is survived by four children, Terri Brown and husband, David, Kenny Ryan and wife, Debbie, all of Oolitic, Deitra “Dee” Beyrer and husband, Andy, of Fishers, and Matt Ryan and wife, Joni Sue, of Bedford; five grandchildren, Ky Porter, Mandy Baker, Nicholas Wininger, Ali Beyrer, Evan Beyrer; seven great grandchildren, Mya, Gabe, Garrett, Isaac, Chloe, Hadley, and Holden; many nieces and nephews; a brother, Chester Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, three brothers, and a daughter, Jamie (in infancy).
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman and Rev. Taylor Quinley officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary where masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers are: Nicholas Wininger, Mandy Baker, Ali Beyrer, Evan Beyrer, Garrett Baker, and Chris Baker.
Honorary pallbearers are: Isaac Groover, Chloe Baker, and Hadley Wininger.

Phyllis Ann (Tirey) Tucker – Bedford

Phyllis Ann (Tirey) Tucker, 85, of Bedford, died at 2:04 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at White River
Lodge.
Born September 28, 1933, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of George and Ada (Smith) Tirey. She married Robert D. Tucker and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2016. She was a homemaker and member of the Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Dougherty and husband, Shannon, of Bedford; two granddaughters, Jessica Davis and husband, Josh, of Williams and Lacey Dougherty and fiancé, J. Ford, of Norman; four great-grandchildren, Rylan Davis, Jaedyn, Jace, and Jax Ford; siblings, Wayne, Donald, Robert and Larry Tirey, Rhea Anderson, and Delores Grubb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
