Charges Filed Against Martinsville Police Chief

(MARTINSVILLE) – Charges were filed against Martinsville Police Chief Matt Long on Friday.

Long is accused of official misconduct by a public servant who knowingly commits an offense and theft where the value of the property is between $750 and $50,000, both Level 6 felonies.
Morgan County Superior Court I has sealed all court records.
Chief Long was placed on paid administrative leave by the city on Jan. 18. By the end of January, the Indiana State Police had begun their investigation into possible misuse of time and overtime compensation and official misconduct.
After Long was placed on administrative leave, Martinsville Mayor Shannon Kohl appointed Officer Roger Wiltermood to serve as the interim chief during the investigation.
