Indianapolis Firefighters Escape Serious Injury After Crash

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Authorities say four Indianapolis firefighters escaped with minor injuries after a head-on crash between their truck and a car while en route to an emergency call.

The firefighters were headed late Sunday to the scene where a person was having trouble breathing when the car crossed the center line of a road and collided with the firetruck. The firetruck had its lights and sirens activated and was about two blocks from the station when the crash occurred.
The Indianapolis Fire Department says the firefighters were wearing seatbelts and they had bumps and bruises. The 30-year-old man driving the car was checked out but was OK.
The fire department says the crash left debris scattered over a roughly 200-yard-long (183-meter-long) area. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
