Bloomington Police arrested 35-year-old Michael Thompson after maintenance men went to a vacant apartment after a report of a person possibly inside.
One of the maintenance workers located Thompson inside, and when he confronted him, Thompson lunged at him with a knife.
That maintenance worker backed away and went to his truck to get his phone.
When he returned to the front porch of the residence, he discovered his co-worker bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his left torso area and his left eye. That individual is in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police say Thompson then fled the scene. Officers established a perimeter and located Thompson near the intersection of 7th and Jackson streets. He was arrested on charges of attempted murder, intimidation with a deadly weapon, robbery and criminal trespassing.
