Police arrested 30-year-old Sarah Dorsett, of Springville on a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a minor.
According to a Lawrence Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, on Sunday at 10:27 p.m. a child dialed 911 to report his parents were fighting.
Lawrence County Sheriff deputies responded to the 200 block of Hickory Heights Circle.
When they arrived they found a man outside of the home. The man said he and the family had spent the day in Bloomington and that while Dorsett was driving, he asked her about a text message on her phone. After asking the question, Dorsett allegedly became violent. He told deputies Dorsett started hitting him in the head. He said two children in the backseat witnessed the fight.
Deputies say the male suffered abrasions, cuts, and had redness to his face.
Dorsett, who police say was intoxicated, told deputies the man had broken her purse strap during the altercation. Dorsett submitted to a breath-alcohol test confirming Dorsett’s intoxication level was twice the legal limit.
Dorsett was booked into the Lawrence County Jail. She is being held on a $755 cash or $7,500 surety bond.
