(DAVIESS CO.) – Months of working out the details the Daviess County Commissioners approved an exclusive service agreement with Daviess Community Hospital, making them the official emergency service provider.
The agreement calls will go into effect in 120 days. According to the agreement, four fully staffed ambulances to be on call at all times within the county. Two ambulances will be based in Washington, with one each based at locations in Odon and Cannelburg. Two other ambulances will be placed on standby status.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department call logs the largest number of ambulance calls come from the Washington area, then Odon and the eastern area of the county with along the U.S. 50 corridor generating the third largest number of calls.
Commissioner Nathan Gabhart emphasized the ambulances will take stable patients to the hospital of the patient’s choice.
However, unstable patients, EMS personnel will determine which hospital is the most appropriate for the medical emergency.
