Ileen (Amburgey) Taylor, 90, of Bedford, IN, went home to be with our Lord Jesus at 7:48 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born May 1, 1929, in Knott County, Kentucky; she was the daughter of Carlos and Odie (Vance) Amburgey.
She married George R. Taylor on September 6, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 2005. She retired from Thrift Dollar Store in Bedford after 20 years.
Ileen was a member of Southland Church of Christ. She loved spending time in her yard and garden. She also loved cooking for her family and taking photos and videos.
She is survived by her sons, Vince (Vicky) Taylor, Westville, IN, Jerry (Sheila) Taylor, of Bedford, and Dean (Diane) Taylor, of Gary, IN; one daughter, Beverly (Eugene) Johnson, of Oolitic; eleven grandchildren, Shannon (Mark) Clark, Greg Taylor, Jeff (Candy) Taylor, Brent (Heather) Taylor, Jamie Taylor and fiancé Wade Baker, Jared (Shanda) Taylor, Brandie (Jeremy) Gilson, Anthony (Heather) Gilliland, E.J. (Angela) Johnson, Eric Johnson, and Dustin Johnson; twenty-two great-grandchildren; four great, great-grandchildren; and several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Taylor; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Southland Church of Christ with Pastor Bud Smith and Pastor Barry Day officiating. Interment will follow at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes and from 9 a.m. until the service hour on Wednesday at the Southland Church of Christ.
