(BEDFORD) – The 54th annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil show is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Lawrence County 4-H Fairgrounds.
Hosted by the Lawrence County Rock Club, the event will feature a wide variety of gems, jewelry, minerals, rocks, gifts, lapidary supplies, and prospecting supplies.
The show opens at 10 a.m. Friday and continues until 6 p.m. It is open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Admission and parking are free.
There is an area for kids to learn and explore and lots of free demonstrations for all that attend.
There will also be a silent auction of donated items from the vendors and club members.
The Lawrence County Rock Club is an educational organization dedicated to the advancement and enhancement of rock, mineral, fossil and gem collecting as well as the study of geology and earth science and the development and study of lapidary arts. Lapidary arts include the cutting, polishing and engraving stones and gems into wearable or other types of art pieces.
The club meets on the first Saturday of the month at the Mixing Bowl at 641 X Street at 7 p.m. Membership is $10 for adults and a junior membership costs $1.50 a year. Junior members must be accompanied by an adult.
