(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) Bankers Life Fieldhouse will be going through an overhaul of renovations in the coming years and it will cause the Indiana Fever to find somewhere else to play their home games for a while.
The renovations, which include $295 million in public money, will begin next February and run until October 2022, forcing the Fever to find a temporary venue for home games for at least a couple of seasons.
The renovations will include the addition of a new outdoor plaza that can convert to a skating rink in the winter, an expanded entry pavilion, new observation decks and upgraded suites.
Phase one will start February 2020 until October 2020. Phase two will take place after the arena hosts the 2021 NBA All-Star Game and Phase three will run January 2022 to October 22, 2022.
Most of the construction will be done over the summer months, displacing the Fever for two full seasons and part of the 2022 season.
The renovations will have no effect on Pacers home games.
