(UNDATED) – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces pipe replacement projects for State Road 450 between Shoals and Bedford.
Beginning on or around Tuesday, July 9, 2019, INDOT Maintenance Crews will start working in multiple locations to excavate and replace drainage culverts on State Road 450 between Bedford and Shoals. Work on this roadway is expected to last about a week depending upon weather conditions. Bad weather could cause delays and extend the time frame up to three weeks.
Since there are multiple locations as a part of this operation, most of the work will be performed in the late afternoon and overnight hours. Crews will be in operation from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m. Crews are also planning Saturday operations from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Crews will begin on the southern portion of the road near US 50 in Shoals and work toward Bedford. During the operations, local traffic will have access up to the point of closure. Through traffic will need to use the official detour using State Road 158, State Road 37 and US 50.
Crews will open the road during off hours, though traffic will need to be aware that the pipe replacement sites will not be paved until later. Fill material will compact under normal traffic conditions.
INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
