(BOONE COUNTY) – A five-year-old girl is dead and a three-year-old girl is in the hospital after they fell into a Boone County pond on Wednesday.
The Boone Co. Sheriff’s Office said the two girls were found unresponsive in a pond on County Road 500 South shortly before noon.
Family members gave the girls CPR until help arrived.
The three-year-old girl was taken to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. She was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.
The five-year-old girl did not survive.
The Boone Co. Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident as an accidental drowning. Aiding in the investigation are the Indiana Department of Child Services and the Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources.
