City of Bloomington Utilities Issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory

(BLOOMINGTON) – City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) crews are on-site repairing a water main break on East Ramp Creek Road.

Thirty-one residences have been disconnected from water service while crews repair the break.

Those customers are now under a precautionary Boil Water Advisory, which is scheduled to be in effect until 8 a.m. on Friday, August 16.

Addresses subject to the advisory have been listed at bloomington.in.gov/utilities and will be notified with a door hanger.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) requires all public water systems to issue a Boil Water Advisory when the pressure drops below 20 psi in the water main.

Those affected should follow the following instructions for the duration of the Boil Water Advisory:

  • Immediately after your normal water pressure is restored, run COLD water from a sink or tub until clear water flows from the faucet.
  • Bring all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene to a full boil for FIVE minutes prior to consumption. It is not necessary to boil water for other uses.

Please see the CBU website at bloomington.in.gov/utilities for a list of affected addresses. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the City of Bloomington Utilities at 812-339-1444.
