(MONTGOMERY) – Barr-Reeve spoiled Bedford North Lawrence’s season debut with a 5-0 victory over the Stars during boys high school tennis action on Monday afternoon.
The Vikings didn’t drop a set and lost only four total games in the second sets of the five matches.
Bryce Graber stopped Adam Tlustek 6-1, 6-2 at No.1 singles, Kayden Graber fought off Cameron Gratzer 7-5, 6-1 in the most competitive match at No.2, and Nathan Hunt handled Konley Woodward 6-0, 6-1 at No.3.
In doubles, Barr-Reeve’s Terry Kidwell and Aaron Wagler rolled past Wyatt Scherschel and Cade Provo 6-2, 6-0 at No.1, while Haden Knepp and Logan Graber topped Steven Graham and Graham Turner 6-4, 6-0 at No.2.
“We started out strong, won the first game on four of the five courts,” BNL coach Donnie Thomas said. “Barr-Reeve was just aggressive, coming to the net on every court, and that gave us fits. But we’re still a young team.”
The Stars will visit Bloomington South on Tuesday.
