(VINCENNES) – Bedford North Lawrence broke through for a 2-1 victory over Vincennes Rivet during boys high school soccer action on Saturday.
Josh Anderson and Jacob Kolk scored the goals as the Stars (2-3) ended a two-game scoreless streak.
“That’s good for us to get back on the winning track, get some confidence,” BNL coach Logan Jackson said. “We felt like we had been starved for goals lately, so that helps us a lot.”
Anderson ended the slump with a rebound shot at the 21-minute mark of the first half. Danny Cline was fouled in the penalty box 10 minutes into the second half, and Kolk converted the shot for a 2-0 advantage.
The Patriots struck with 2:34 left as Charlie Niehaus gathered a long pass and scored, but the Stars were able to maintain their lead the rest of the way.
“We got complacent and gave one up,” Jackson said. “We just have to finish whistle to whistle. But our ball movement was great.
“Our midfield did well with movement and passing. We really shut down the middle, so this was a good team win.”
The Stars will visit Silver Creek on Tuesday.
