(NASHVILLE) – Bedford North Lawrence broke through for its first victory of the season, conquering Indian Creek during the Brown County Invitational on Saturday.
The Stars (1-8) went 1-2 during the three-match tournament. After falling to Owen Valley in the opener, BNL finally posted that elusive win by topping the Braves. Greencastle stopped the Stars in the final match.
“I am super proud of the win, and we finally have that money off our backs,” BNL coach Jordan Robbins said. “The kids have deserved a win and had nothing to show for it, until today.
“The kids hustled and didn’t quit. We are starting to get confident and it is great to watch.”
BNL almost ended the skid in the opener but suffered a 21-25, 25-21, 15-7 loss to the Patriots. The Stars snapped the streak with a 25-18, 25-15 triumph in the second round.
“That was very important,” BNL junior Haley Deckard said. “We deserved it. We have worked so hard and this was just a stepping stone to the rest of a great season. We played very well together today. I’m super excited to see what we can do as we keep improving.”
BNL will visit Barr-Reece on Tuesday.
