(MITCHELL) – The 73rd Annual Persimmon Festival is off to a great start. The week-long festival kicked off Saturday with the candlelight tour at Spring Mill State Park in addition to townwide yard sales.
On Monday evening, officials crowned the Persimmon Festival Queen, Mini, Miss, and Junior Miss.
Another big event was the 2019 Litefm Persimmon Idol Contest which brought performers from Bedford, French Lick, Guthrie, Paoli, and Salem. The contest spotlighted local talent and the crowd was not disappointed.
Those attending the festival will not go home hungry. There is plenty of food to boost your calorie intake, and you must indulge with a slice of persimmon pudding.
Brady Amusements brought several rides for the children and youthful adults. Rides start around 5 p.m. and are running nightly until 10 p.m.
Individual ride tickets cost $2.50 per ticket or 10 tickets for $23, or 20 tickets for $45. All rides take one ticket.
Tonight you can purchase an armband that is good for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The armbands are cash sales only. Lost or broken armbands will not be replaced.
