(WASHINGTON) – In a new video for FoxNews.com, Rep. Jim Banks explains why Chinese-owned TikTok needs to be investigated for how it handles user data and if the app presents a danger to American national security.
This video comes days after Rep. Banks had an op-ed appear at FoxNews.com applauding CFIUS for investigating TikTok’s acquisition of musical.ly for national security threats to American citizens.
“TikTok “is a tool of the Chinese Communist Party – the Chinese government – to infiltrate the United States for purposes that are the best interests of China… The more that we learn about how the Chinese use tools like the TikTok app, or the facial recognition apps they’ve used in the past… the more we should be concerned about what their purposes ultimately are.,” says Rep. Banks.
