(GREENCASTLE) – The Greencastle Commission on Sustainability presented the 2019 Outstanding Citizen and Government Agency of the Year Award to Erin Basiger of the Division of Fish & Wildlife (DFW) on Nov. 14, before its council meeting in Greencastle.
The award is given to Putnam County citizens, organizations, and businesses for promoting the environment. The award recognizes Basiger for her work with the Bike with a Biologist program within the city of Greencastle and Putnam County.
The program gives participants the opportunity to bike with a DFW biologist and learn about wildlife, wildlife habitat, native plants, and invasive species, as well as the DFW and the work it does for conservation in Indiana.
Basiger has served as the south region landscape biologist for three years. In her role as south region landscape biologist, she works with Indiana landowners to establish or enhance wildlife habitat on their property to meet their conservation goals.
The DFW is dedicated to connecting Hoosiers to outdoor experiences. To find upcoming events near you, see wildlife.IN.gov/7543.htm.
