Betty Jane Byers, 92, of Springville, IN went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 5:12 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020.
Born March 6, 1927, in Springville, the daughter of Clarence and Goldie (Peek) Cathers. She married Frederic Byers on June 20, 1943, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2011.
She worked as an accountant for Byers Excavating and during World War II, she worked at Crane Naval Weapons Center to supply equipment and materials to the war effort. She was known for a contagious smile, laughter and an optimistic attitude. She enjoyed family, travel, bowling, painting, serving others and supporting the community.
Survivors include one daughter Rebecca Byers of Springville, a son Robin Byers and wife Donna of Carmel; a granddaughter Kathryn Olivia McColgin and husband Andrew; two great-grandsons Michael and Andy McColgin all of Eagle Mountain, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Goldie and Clarence Cathers, two sisters, Violet Marie Cathers, Helen Carmichael and, and a granddaughter Tessa Elyse Byers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Lowder Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, January 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
