(BEDFORD) – Billy Neal is the New Athletic Director at the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County.
Neal is replacing Rusty Shepperd who is resuming his role as the Youth Development Professional at the Thornton Teen Center, one of six offsite units of the Lawrence County Boys and Girls Club.
In his new role, Neal’s key responsibilities will be to plan, implement, supervise and evaluate all programs and activities provided in the program areas of athletics, including, but not limited to, flag/tackle football, basketball, baseball/softball, gymnastics,cheerleading, karate, dodgeball and volleyball.
“Billy brings us a business background and athletic background and we are excited to have him,” said Chief Professional Officer Frank Deckard. “Billy has been active within our community and club working with local youth with various age groups over the past several years. He has the knowledge, drive, and compassion that is going to help us move our athletic programs forward.”
Neal is a 2002 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and a lifelong resident of Lawrence County. He lives in Bedford with his wife Emily and their five children: Cameron 17; Ava 14; Cruz 13; Margo 8 and Jack 3. For the past nine years, Billy has worked as an insurance agent for Judy Macy State Farm and at Hoosier Hills Credit Union.
“I love coaching and have volunteered as a coach at the club many times,” Neal says. “I have coached travel basketball and soccer and I have a love for all sports.”
The club now has a new athletic website. This new site gives you viewing access to schedules and sports news. The athletic website is also your destination to register for the clubs variety of offered sports. The club offers football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, karate, and dodgeball.
