(BEDFORD) – A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant Wednesday morning and charged with two counts of child molesting.
Police arrested 35-year-old Joshua Stevens, of 508 Old Needmore School Road, on two felony counts of child molesting and a warrant for failure to appear.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Bedford Police Detective Derek Blackwell received information about the incident on January 6th.
The female child, who is related to Stevens, completed a forensic investigation at Susie’s Place, a child advocate service in Bloomington.
The female told police that Stevens began sexually abusing her when she was 5 and the abuse continued until May 2019. The girl told police the abuse continued until she turned 11.
According to Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore, detectives spoke to Stevens on January 14th and he denied the allegations.
“A follow-up call was made by the detective on January 15th and 16th with no response from the accused,” says Chief Moore. “The case was finished up on January 23rd and sent to the Lawrence County Prosecutors office requesting a warrant.”
