(BEDFORD) – Two people were arrested Wednesday afternoon when Bedford Police officers were called CVS Pharmacy after a female was caught putting items in her purse she had not paid for.
While officers were speaking with store employees about the incident they stopped the woman as she walked out of the store.
The woman was identified as 27-year-old Morgan Chilton, of Bedford.
“Officers approached her and a male sitting inside a vehicle she arrived in,” says Chief Terry Moore.” While speaking with Chilton, she handed officers the stolen items she left the store with. Officers also located methamphetamine, paraphernalia, and a syringe inside her purse.”
The male, 29-year-old Tyler Speer, of Springville, started yelling at Chilton and when officers approached him they noticed a knife in his pocket.
“Speer was told to stop yelling and to keep his hands out of his pocket,” says Chief Moore. “Speer continued reaching into his pockets and was placed into handcuffs for officer safety. When Speer was asked for his identifiers he gave a different name and date of birth and was taken into custody.”
Officers located meth, and a syringe in his pockets.
While Speer was processed at the jail the staff located a used syringe inside his shoe.
A child was inside the vehicle and she was released to a family friend and Department of Child Services was contacted.
Chilton is facing charges of neglect of a dependant, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of meth, theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia
Speer is facing charges of dealing meth, possession of meth, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a syringe, synthetic identity deception, and trafficking with an inmate.
