James R. “Bucky” Cuddy, 95, of Zephyrhills, Florida, formerly of Bedford, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020, at his residence.
Born August 5, 1924, in Oolitic, he was the son of Grover H. and Mayme E. (Brown) Cuddy. He married Vivian Pace on September 29, 1978, and she preceded in death on April 23, 2012. He had been a teacher in Indiana for over thirty years with the last 15 years spent in Indianapolis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served with the Old Flying Tigers for 3 ½ years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Michael David Cuddy, of Dade City, FL; one step-daughter, Connie Gorgas; two grandchildren, David Cuddy and Natalie Lang; four great-grandchildren; three step-grandsons, Jeremy and Joshua Smith and Matthew McGee; one step-granddaughter, Jana McKee; several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vivian, a step-daughter, Janna Roman; a brother, Edward H. Cuddy; two sisters, Geneva Johnson and Margarete Sights.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made in Bucky’s memory to Veterans Administration and Disabled
