Hildred Ilene Taylor, 86, of Shoals, formerly of Cale, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Loogootee Nursing Center.
Hildred was born on July 4, 1933, in Martin County to William M. and Fannie (Chastain) Taylor. She married Herman Vertis Taylor on April 30, 1949.
She was a member of the Fairview Regular Baptist Church of Cale. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She held several offices and served as Worthy Matron several times of the Shoals Chapter. She also served as a Star Point and Conductress at the State level. She was a former member of the Martin County Extension Homemakers Club and was a former Martin County 4-H leader.
She worked at N.A.D Crane during the Vietnam War and retired from the Bedford Westview Nursing Home as a CNA in the Alzheimer’s Unit.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings John Taylor, Imogene Crane, and Vernell Raney.
She is survived by her daughter, Cordilla (Jimmy) George of Williams; her grandson, Paul Robert (Eva) George of Shoals. Great-grandson Tyler George of Springville, and Great-granddaughter Taylor George of Shoals. Step great-grandson, Edmund Neeley of Shoals, step great-granddaughters, Reeva (Alan) Dorsey of Newburgh, Sistoria Neeley of Bedford, Zafira and Eleora Neeley of Shoals. John (Lori) Daniel of Loogootee who was like her second grandson. Two sisters, Opal Mullis of Bloomington and Annabell Fields of Bedford, and several nieces and nephews.
Following her wishes, there will be no visitation. Graveside services and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
