Mary Louise Watson, 93, pf Mitchell, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born July 15, 1926, in Red Springs, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Nolie and Lucy B. (Oxendine) Jones. She married Paul H. Watson on July 1, 1946, and he preceded her in death on October 22, 1976.
Mary was employed 43 years at M. Fine & Sons. She was proud of her Native American heritage as an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. Mary was a member of the American Legion Post No. 250 Auxiliary and a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 9107 Auxiliary. She loved her flowers and beloved Chihuahua dogs.
Survivors include cousins, nieces, and nephews of multiple generations throughout Indiana and North Carolina.
Her parents; husband; and siblings, Annie Ruth Jones, Otella Locklear, Polly Tyler, Janie Talley, Ethel Bell, Aletha Jacob, John Jones, and Woodrow Jones, preceded her in death.
Following Lumbee Tribe tradition, there was a going home service at Mitchell Cemetery. Brother Jim Russell officiated.
