Robert Keane, Jr., 90, of Mitchell, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at his residence.
Born June 10, 1929, in Mitchell, he was the son of Robert Nathaniel and Dorothy (Denny) Keane, Sr. He married Anne Ruth Baker on June 4, 1952.
Bob had been employed at Roberts Brass and was a former custodian at Mitchell Junior High School. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1947 and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he played baseball and basketball. Bob was the founder of the Mitchell Little League and also umpired games. Cincinnati Reds was his favorite team. Bob was a member of Tulip Street Christian Church and enjoyed yard work and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Keane of Mitchell; daughter, Vanessa (Tom) Brooks of Mitchell; 2 grandchildren; siblings, Margaret Wood of Mitchell, Marvin Lee Keane of Salem, Linda Kay Terry of Mitchell, Sue Blackerby of Mitchell
His parents and son, Brian Keane, preceded him in death.
Burial was Wednesday, April 8, in Mitchell Cemetery. A memorial service will be at a later date.
