(VIGO CO.) – A Vigo County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested Wednesday.
Indiana State Police arrested First Sergeant Jeff Bell.
Bell was charged with domestic battery and interfering in the reporting of a crime.
Bell was relieved of his police duties, and the sheriff’s office removed his duty weapon, badge, ID, and department vehicle.
He was placed on administrative leave until a merit board meeting can be held. That is where they will determine his status as a merit deputy pending the filing of formal charges by the prosecutor’s office.
Indiana State Police is handling the investigation.
