Mavis Lee, 98, of Bedford, passed away at 2:38 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at Ascension St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born August 6, 1921, in Martin Co., she was the daughter of William Thomas and Melinda (Davis) Hardwick. She married Freeman W. Lee on June 20, 1939, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2004.
She was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1939 and had been a member of the First Church of God since she was 10 years old. She was a homemaker and had taught Sunday School for thirty years.
Survivors include five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Freeman W.
Lee, Jr.; six brothers and their wives, Melvin Hardwick and wife, Nettie, Robert Leslie Hardwick and wife, Emma, Herbert Hardwick and wife, Edith, Dora Hardwick and wife, Ruth, Woodrow Hardwick and wife, Ruth, and Roscoe Hardwick (in infancy); six sisters and their husbands, Martha Cultice and husband, Bill, Nora Hardwick, Gladys Tomey and husband, Olin, Avis Pace and husband, Roy, Anna Pearl Woodard and husband, Fred, and Ela Pavey and husband, Jim.
Private graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 2nd at Cresthaven Memory Gardens with Pastor Travis Inman officiating.
