Five questions with Bedford North Lawrence senior Owen Beaver
Sport: track; Career choice: orthopedic surgeon; College: Knox College
Question 1: What did you learn from playing multiple high school sports?
Beaver: Multiple sports helped me become well rounded, both physically and mentally in athletics, as well as keeping me focused in the classroom.
Question 2: Who has been your role model?
Beaver: My role models have been the coaches I’ve had, because of the way they taught me to play but also the way they’ve shaped my character.
Question 3: Can you describe your emotions when the track season was cancelled?
Beaver: Track ending brought a mixture of sadness and anger. We felt like, as seniors, we had a lot to live up to after the sectional was successful last year. Not getting the chance to repeat really hurts.
Question 4: What pointed you toward your future career path?
Beaver: Athletics and personal injuries, as well as being around my mother, helped me decide what I wanted to be.
Question 5: As the restrictions are lifted, who was the first person you wanted to see?
Beaver: It would be amazing to see my relay team, because that would mean we get to run.
