Jimmie Joe Hensell, 72, of Bedford passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. at his residence.
He was born in Logansport on February 3, 1948, to Robert J. Hensell and Phyllis (Kinaman) Swartz. Jimmie married Peggy E. Simpson on November 10, 1988, and she survives.
Jimmie attended Twin Lake High School in Monticello, he is a former member of the United States Marine Corps, he joined in April of 1965, 1 st Marine & 1 st Reconnaissance combat veteran in Vietnam from 1965-1968, he was a former truck driver and has been disabled.
He is a lifetime member of the DAV, Am Vets Post#91 of Monticello, VFW Post#9107 in Mitchell, Bedford American Legion Post#33 in Bedford, Lawrence County Vietnam Veterans Organization.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy E. Hensell of Bedford, half-sister Sheila Hensell of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Swartz, his father, Robert J. Hensell, and sister, Pamela K. Lewark.
Graveside rites will be Friday, June 12, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Cresthaven Memory Gardens, with military rites by the Bedford American Legion Post#33. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford.
