(EDINBURGH) – Indiana State Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a reckless driver blamed for causing a fatal crash on Interstate 65 between Columbus and Indianapolis.
Investigators believe a white Chevrolet Cobalt with either Illinois or Kentucky license plates was driving recklessly Tuesday night, speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, and braking suddenly in front of vehicles and gesturing to other drivers.
The driver of the Cobalt allegedly pulled in front of a pickup truck and suddenly braked, sending the pickup swerving to the right where it was struck by a semitrailer, police said. The collision caused the pickup to strike a guardrail and overturn.
Other motorists pulled the driver of the pickup, 72-year-old Mark Raub, of Nashville, Indiana, out of the wreckage and performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are asking motorists who may have been traveling in the area of I-65 between Indianapolis and Columbus between 8 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. Tuesday in a vehicle equipped with a dash camera to review their footage for a white Chevrolet Cobalt with Illinois or Kentucky license plates. They can call the State Police at 317-899-8577 with information.
