John Cecil Knight, 88, of Mitchell, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born February 5, 1931, in Mitchell, he was the son of John Charles and Ruth (Phillips) Knight.
John retired from General Electric. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. John was a member of American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Survivors include his niece, Gayle (Randy) Terrell of Mitchell; great-nieces and nephews.
His parents; siblings, Frederick Eugene Knight, Leslie Knight, and Helen Knight, and great-nieces, Leslie Chambers, Eva Knight, and Terri Knight, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Mitchell Cemetery with Brother Jim Russell officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
