(BEDFORD) – A 14-year-old boy was arrested after Bedford Police officers found him riding his bicycle without any lights in the middle of Mitchell Road around 12:19 a.m. Wednesday.
According to Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore, for the boy’s safety the officer tried to stop the teen and recommend not riding in the roadway.
“After refusing to acknowledge the officer he activated his lights and siren and the juvenile continued to ride his bicycle with no intention of stopping,” said Chief Moore. “A short time later the juvenile ran off the side of the road, dropped the bicycle and took off walking. The officer caught up to the male who stated he didn’t stop because he was violating his probation. Probation was contacted and agreed to release the juvenile to his parents with a signed promise to appear.”
The teen is now facing charges of resisting arrest, curfew violation, possession of a tobacco product and was cited for a bicycle lamp violation.
