(MITCHELL) – Mitchell Community Schools has named Dr. Brent Comer Interim Superintendent following a brief school board meeting Thursday night.
Dr. Mike Wilcox has resigned for personal reasons. In a 5 – 0 vote the board accepted his resignation. Each member also thanked Wilcox for his leadership.
Following Dr. Wilcox’s public announcement, he thanked everyone for their support.
Mitchell Teacher Association’s Gloria Schlemmer read a statement also thanking Dr. Wilcox for all that he has done for the teachers and the community over the last two years.
“Do not start to cry, or then I will cry,” said Schlemmer.
School board president Chris Shaw did not say how long it will take to name a permanent replacement.
Dr. Comer is prepared to continue the initiatives and progress that Dr. Wilcox has made over the last two years and says Mitchell Community Schools will continue to move forward.
Dr. Wilcox was hired in November 2018 following the retirement of Superintendent Dr. Steve Phillips.
