BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence clicked on all the courts, playing its best tennis of the season, en route to a convincing 5-0 victory over Brown County on Thursday afternoon.
The Stars (5-3) won their fourth consecutive match, and only one court went to a third set during a dominating performance.
“That’s the best we’ve played in a long time,” BNL coach Donnie Thomas said. “It was very enjoyable.”
All three singles matches followed a similar script. The Stars trailed 4-3 in the first sets on each court, then rallied to take all those sets by 6-4 counts.
Steven Graham carried that momentum for a 6-4, 6-3 win over Noah Patterson at No.2, while Graham Turner topped Reid Davis 6-4, 6-1 at No.3.
Adam Tlustek went the distance for his victory, fighting off Josh Miller 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (10-8 in the tiebreaker) at No.1.
“After those first sets, they rolled,” Thomas said. “They kind of got in their heads and shook them up.”
In doubles, Cameron Gratzer and Konley Woodward bounced Spencer Blee and Noah Cochran 6-2, 6-2 at No.1, while Nate Pemberton and Caleb Jones pounced on Aidan Burt and Austen Deckard 6-1, 6-4 at No.2
“No.1 doubles played exactly like we want them to play,” Thomas said. “No.2 doubles just made a lot of great shots. They’re really talking together and moving well.”
The Stars will visit North Daviess on Monday.
